“sexylexi” wow your are only in first grade! but talking is optional but usually no and its not like an akward silence becuase you are both listening to music. Just be confident and everything will be great!
I think if you want to you can talk but wrap your arms around his neck. and he’ll put his arms around your waste if he trys to go further dont let him it’ll give you bad rep
when he asks you to dance, look into his eyes and sweetly say of course or sure.
And put your hands around his neck and tighten or loosen your arms matters how close or far away you wannabe.
But u can talk while dance to make it not awkward. but like to be sexy/cute talk quietly into his ear.

put ur hands on his shoulders and jest sway back and forth a little bit move your feet with his. and yes talk to him,, say something like “man that pop quiz in english was sooo hard!” it will start a conversation. if there is an awkward silence just give him a compliment or sumthing.
